We hope that we answer most of your questions about our newborn sessions below. Of course, if you have any questions other than what you see answered here, feel free to give us a call at 704.628.6585 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with those questions! We’d be happy to help!
“When should I contact you to book my newborn session?”
We HIGHLY recommend contacting us during your pregnancy to start the booking process. A $100 deposit toward your session places your due date on our calendar. Although we make every effort to fit in last-minute newborn session requests, our schedule fills up quickly and it can sometimes be difficult to do so. Once you are on our calendar, you will be given priority after your baby arrives and we will be sure to schedule your session within 12 days postpartum. If your baby has already been born, we still encourage you to call and inquire about a session, as we do try to accommodate each newborn inquiry whenever possible.
“Do I need to bring my own props & accessories to our session?”
No, we will provide every prop and accessory for your session. 99% of what you see in our work – baskets, pails, blankets, hats, headbands, animal outfits, etc. – are property of Dimples & Curls Photography and you will have access to it all! Occasionally, a client will request to bring in a special prop. If the prop fits in with the photographer’s style and vision and is approved before the session, we will find a way to incorporate it.
“I see many different styles of photography in your portfolio, so how do I know what types of photos I’ll receive?”
You will be asked to complete a Newborn Session Questionnaire so that we can learn about your interests and style preferences. We encourage you to view our Newborn Gallery, blog posts, and Newborn Albums on our Facebook page and take notes on what you do and do not like to prepare for your questionnaire and consultation.
“Once our baby is born, what should we do?”
Once your newborn is here, have someone contact us immediately so that we can select a date for your session. To ensure the sleepy, intricate newborn poses, we advise scheduling a newborn session 6-8 days after delivery. Parents of breastfed babies should wait until mother’s milk comes in so that your little one will be sure to have full tummy after every feeding. Bottle-fed babies generally take more per feeding, so they may be photographed as early as 5 days old.
“How long will my newborn photography session take?”
Between soothing, feeding, precise posing, and prepping shots, our newborn photography sessions are about 4 hours. Sessions with multiples (twins, etc.) may run longer. We love taking our time and perfecting every shot, and we are careful to follow baby’s lead as we work through the session. Please reserve at least 6 hours for our session in case your little one is sensitive to handling and needs more time to settle between poses, and to allow time for your ride home.
“How do I prepare for my newborn photography session?”
We have taken the time to put together an extensive set of guidelines and ways that you can help your newborn session go as smoothly as possible. You will receive this information just before your session.
